Dorking’s Cultural Hub Since 1931
Dorking Halls has served as the town’s principal entertainment venue for over ninety years. Originally built as a public hall in the Art Deco style, it was expanded and modernised in the 1980s and again in the 2000s, adding a second screen and improved foyer facilities without losing its period character.
Today it operates as a twin–screen cinema showing mainstream releases alongside independent and foreign–language films, complemented by a busy live programme that includes touring theatre, tribute bands, classical recitals, comedy nights and community variety shows. Its 300–seat main hall strikes a pleasing balance between intimacy and scale.
At the Heart of the Community
Dorking Halls is managed by Mole Valley District Council and is integral to the town’s social calendar. It hosts the annual Dorking Film Festival, antiques fairs, craft markets and private functions, serving as both an arts venue and a civic meeting point.
Situated on Reigate Road within walking distance of the High Street, it benefits from Dorking’s attractive Surrey Hills setting and draws audiences from across the Mole Valley. For residents who value the convenience of local culture without the drive to Guildford, Dorking Halls is an indispensable resource.
