Big–Name Entertainment for Surrey

G Live opened in 2011 on the site of the former Guildford Civic Hall, transforming the town’s entertainment offer with a 1,700–seat main auditorium, a 300–seat studio theatre and extensive conference facilities. Its scale allows Guildford to attract headline touring acts, West End musicals and large–scale comedy specials that previously bypassed the county for Brighton or Southampton.

The venue’s programme runs the full spectrum: chart–topping musicians, ballet and opera companies, bestselling author talks, children’s theatre and an annual pantomime. With excellent acoustics and modern staging technology, it has quickly established itself as one of the south–east’s most important mid–size venues.

More Than a Concert Hall

G Live’s conference and exhibition spaces are used extensively for business events, trade shows, graduation ceremonies and community gatherings. The University of Surrey and local businesses are regular clients, contributing to the venue’s financial sustainability and ensuring it remains active year–round.

The building sits at the northern end of the High Street, surrounded by restaurants and bars that benefit from the pre–show trade. A £2 million refurbishment of the foyer areas in 2022 improved accessibility and added a mezzanine bar, cementing G Live’s role as the social heart of Guildford’s evening economy.
