Riding on Chobham Common
Chobham Riding Club is a volunteer-run club affiliated to the British Riding Clubs (BRC). It serves riders in the Woking, Chobham and Windlesham area, providing a sociable calendar of clinics, rallies and pleasure rides throughout the year. The club does not operate its own yard; instead members ride from local livery stables and meet at various venues for organised activities.
Chobham Common – the largest National Nature Reserve in south-east England – is the club’s natural playground. Its network of sandy bridleways threads through heather, gorse and birch woodland, offering terrain that is both varied and forgiving underfoot. Organised summer evening rides and weekend hacks are among the club’s best-attended events.
Clinics & Competition
The club arranges regular flatwork, jumping and cross-country clinics with professional coaches, typically held at local equestrian centres. Teams compete in BRC area qualifiers for dressage, show jumping and horse trials, and the club sends representatives to the BRC national championships when qualification is achieved. Social events including quiz nights and an annual dinner round out a welcoming programme that suits leisure riders and competitors alike.
