Where Speed Was Born
Brooklands Museum in Weybridge occupies the site of the world’s first purpose-built motor racing circuit, opened in 1907. Today the museum preserves this extraordinary heritage with a collection spanning motoring, aviation and cycling history. Star exhibits include a British Airways Concorde (visitors can walk through the cabin and flight deck), a Wellington bomber recovered from Loch Ness, the original Members’ Banking section of the racetrack, and a stunning collection of racing cars from the circuit’s heyday.
For families, the museum offers interactive flight simulators, a 4D cinema, a motoring workshop where children can build model cars, and regular hands-on activity days during school holidays. The Brooklands aircraft collection includes a Harrier jump jet, a Vickers VC10 and a Sopwith Camel replica, tracing a century of British aviation from the site where many of these aircraft were designed and built.
