Victorian Gothic Splendour
Horsley Towers is a Grade II* listed Victorian Gothic mansion set within 50 acres of parkland in the heart of the Surrey Hills. Built in the 1820s and extensively remodelled by architect Charles Barry in the 1850s, the house features dramatic pointed arches, ornate stonework and a magnificent central staircase that has become one of Surrey’s most photographed wedding backdrops.
Now operating as De Vere Horsley Estate, the venue combines this historic grandeur with modern conference and events facilities. The original house retains its period character, with richly decorated reception rooms, a minstrels’ gallery and an atmospheric library that can be used for intimate ceremonies.
Celebrations at the Estate
The estate offers multiple spaces for wedding ceremonies and receptions. The Great Hall accommodates up to 130 guests for a ceremony beneath its soaring ceiling, while the more intimate Drawing Room suits smaller gatherings. For receptions, the Terrace Room opens onto the grounds, allowing guests to flow between indoor and outdoor spaces.
With 56 bedrooms on site, Horsley Towers is an excellent choice for weekend weddings where guests can stay, relax and explore the grounds. The estate’s position in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty means the surrounding countryside is outstanding for photography and pre-wedding walks.
