High Street Market
Guildford Farmers’ Market is held on the first Tuesday of each month on the town’s celebrated cobbled High Street, one of the steepest and most picturesque shopping streets in southern England. The market brings together around 40 stallholders selling produce from across Surrey and the wider south-east, including seasonal fruit and vegetables, free-range poultry, venison, artisan cheeses, fresh fish, cured meats and hand-baked bread. The scale of the market and the quality of the produce make it one of the best in the county, and its central location means it draws a large and diverse crowd of shoppers.
A Guildford Institution
Operating under the Surrey Markets banner, Guildford’s farmers’ market has become a firm part of the town’s identity. The stalls run from the top of the High Street down towards the river, and the atmosphere on market mornings is lively and convivial. Many stallholders have been attending for years and have built up a loyal customer base. Street-food vendors add an extra dimension, and it is common to see shoppers sitting on the High Street’s benches with a coffee and a freshly baked pastry, bags of produce at their feet. The market is also a useful starting point for exploring Guildford’s independent shops and riverside walks.
